University Governance Organisations in the United Kingdom:
The UK is a useful source of information both because of the active interest in higher education governance in the past 5 to 10 years and because the sector traditions and regulatory systems are the most similar of any international jurisdiction.
The Leadership Foundation for Higher Education has been established explicitly to support management, leadership and governance with universities and higher education colleges. This now includes Higher Education Governance, a site designed to support governors and others involved in the governance of higher education colleges in England.
The Committee of University Chairmen (CUC) leds investigation and development of best practice in the governance of universities, and the Standing Conference of Principals (SCOP)
is the representative body for Higher Education colleges in England and Northern Ireland governance network.
The Higher Education Funding Councils take an extensive interest in good governance, most notably the Council for England (HEFCE). This includes

Other international Higher Ed governance and policy organisations
Other international education jurisdictions are more difficult to apply to Australia because of differences in system-wide governance structures and/or regulatory environments.
For more than 80 years the American Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges is the national organization providing resources to university and college presidents, board chairs and individual trustees of both public and private institutions.
The American Institute for Higher Education Policy is a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to foster access and success in postsecondary education through public policy research and other activities that inform and influence the policymaking process. These activities include policy reports and studies, seminars and meetings, and capacity building activities such as strategic planning.
The Observatory on Borderless Higher Education offers a unique service: an environmental scanning facility on higher education issues for subscribers to keep abreast of borderless developments globally.
The Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) based in the Netherlands has undertaken and published a considerable amount of research on higher education especially at system and institutional levels. CHEPS seeks to increase our understanding of institutional, national and international issues that bear upon Higher Education.
The Policy and Research Unit is one of the core servicesof the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The Unit addresses a number of the ACU's key strategic aims and both contributes to existing discourse in the sector, as well as leading debate through new research on issues in higher education.
Australian educational governance and policy organisations
The Centre for Higher Education Management and Policy (CHEMP) concentrates on analysis of the objectives and detailed specification of particular government and institutional policies; consideration of alternative policy options and their social and economic costs; evaluation of the effects, impact and consequences of the application of particular policies; assessment of the way that policies are developed, specified, authorised, implemented and evaluated; and exploration of appropriate management structures and practices to support higher education objectives.
